CostelloAge: 76 • VeronaJohn Wesley Costello, 76, husband of Judy Rose (Varner) Costello of 138 River Ridge Road passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016 at his residence.Mr. Costello was born on December 29, 1939, in Loudoun County, Virginia, a son of the late Oliver Thornton and Hattie Dillon (Marcus) Costello.John was of the Baptist faith and was self-employed as owner and operator of Jonco Delivery Service. He enjoyed traveling, was an avid Redskin Football fan and he enjoyed playing music, and listening to Bluegrass.In addition to his parents, Mr. Costello was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.Surviving in addition to his wife of eight years is a son, Chris A. Costello and his wife Terry of Churchville; a daughter, Tammy C. Atkins and her husband Jimmy of Verona; three brothers, Clinton Costello of AL, Phil Costello and Jerry Costello both of FL; a sister, Gloria Shank of Berryville; four grandchildren, Brian Lam, Garrett Atkins, Christopher Costello and Amanda Costello; four great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Evelyn Varner of Sugar Grove, WV; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.A Memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Jerry Smith.  The family will receive friends following the service.It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the Augusta Health Foundation, Hospice of the Shenandoah, Post Office Box 1000, Fishersville, Virginia 22939.The family would like to express a sincere "Thank You" to John's caregiver, Ms. Janet Judy for her love and compassionate care during his illness.Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.coffmanfuneralhome.net.
