FAIRBORN — John Robert Monroe, 72, of Fairborn, Ohio, passed away on January 24, 2016. John was born on May 4, 1943 and is the son of the late John W. and Katherine (Jenkins) Monroe. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Anna Mae (Marshall) Monroe. He leaves behind his beautiful children, Jennifer Lynn Sowder, Patty and John Carpenter, Melanie and Reggie Walker, Lisa Gail and Terry Hillard, Lois Lea, John R. and Belinda Monroe Jr., William and Dana Monroe, eldest special son Joshua and wife Wendy Sowder and youngest special son Michael Monroe, twenty grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren and his special friend and companion, Linda Lancione. John was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran, 32nd Degree Master Mason and an avid outdoorsman. He was an active member of the Wright Patterson Air Force Base Rod and Gun Club. He shared his love of hunting and wildlife conservation through the Ohio Hunter's Education Program as an instructor for 33 years. He was adored by his two faithful and furry four legged buddies, Zeke and Remington. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on February 6, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Community Church of the Nazarene, 4400 Osborn Rd, Medway, Ohio.
