John LaughlinJohn Laughlin, nicknamed "Ugs", passed away on September 21, 2016 after a long illness. He was born on November 25, 1949 in Heidelberg Germany, the third child of Col. George T. Laughlin and Jule Dowling Laughlin, both now deceased. The Army took the family to Alabama, Kansas, Georgia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Hawaii and ultimately brought them to Fort Collins in 1963, where John quickly began accumulating a wide circle of friends.After graduation from Fort Collins High School in 1968, John embarked on a lifeless focused on a career that on having fun and adventures. He worked at various jobs requiring skill in mechanics and carpenter, and he also was a bartender and bouncer. Combining these, he became an expert at installing and repairing beer taps and was widely respected in the industry for his knowledge, innovation and problem - solving. He was involved with Brewfest at the very beginning, and was in charge of their beer lines for a number of years. He loved to ride and repair motorcycles, especially Harley's. Good natured, generous, hospitable and humorous, he loved to cool and he loved parties anytime, anywhere. He was witty, creative, and intelligent and his smile was apt to invite others into the fun. And he especially loved his macaw, Harley. He is survived by a sister, Saralyn, and a brother and sister- in-law, George and Donna of Fort Collins, and their son and his wife, Trey and Candice Laughlin of Loveland, and their children, as well as many cousins. He is also survived by his legion of dear friends, with whom he shared a deep loyalty. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ at 10:00 with a reception afterwards.
