Maxfeldt, John G.On November 9, 2017, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend John George Maxfeldt, while at Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, was called to his heavenly home.John was born on December 27, 1941 to George and Pauline (Sampe) Maxfeldt in Manitowoc. He was baptized into the Lord, January 11, 1942 at First Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. He was confirmed also at First Lutheran on May 26, 1957. He was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the Class of 1960. After graduation, John attended the
University of Wisconsin Madison, where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering- Industrial Engineering in 1967. On June 24, 1967 John married the former Eunice Peterson at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay. The couple lived out of state and in Oak Creek, until returning to Manitowoc in 1990. Utilizing his education, John worked with industry specializing in quality control and taught at Lakeshore Technical College and Silver Lake College where he was also a consultant for local industries retiring in 2003.John had many hobbies in his life which included flying (where he received is private pilot's license), bicycle riding, camping, golfing, bowling, playing cards, shortwave radio, photography, and boating. John enjoyed spending time playing games and watching movies with his grandchildren. He was active in his local church in the late 1970's through the 1990's at St. John's of Oak Creek Wisconsin where he was part of many committees, held office, ushered, and sang in the choir. After moving back to Manitowoc, John transferred his membership to Bethany Lutheran Church where he was active in Bethany's choir and with the Lakeshore Lutheran Choral. John was also a member of the American Society for Quality and the Wisconsin Retired Educator's Association (WREA). Survivors include his wife of 50 years: Eunice Maxfeldt, Manitowoc; his daughter: Sherri Brey, Manitowoc, and her two children: Alexandria and Victoria Brey; his son and daughter-in-law: Bill (Kelly) Maxfeldt, Waukesha, and their four children: Caden, Everett, Jonathan and Jane Maxfeldt; three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law: Charlene (Thomas) Slavik, Waukesha; Larry (Kathy) Peterson, Two Rivers; Craig (Carol) Peterson, Brookfield, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Pauline Maxfeldt; one infant sister; one sister and brother-in-law: Audrey (Leonard) Koch.Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc. Rev.'s Robert Kujawski and Stephen Melso will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is assisting the family.
