His supervisor said "At work, John was a loyal employee and friend. He spent his entire career at one company; succeeding in every role . He approached work with integrity and dedication – always focused on doing the right thing, becoming a subject matter expert in many areas and willing to be a mentor/teacher to his colleagues. John was very passionate about his work and always wanted to get to the correct answer.John will be terribly missed by his friends and colleagues".John loved the outdoors. He enjoyed all outdoor activities, especially snow skiing and hiking. One of his passions waslandscape photography. His wife recounts doing several hikes where John would wear a huge 50 pound hiking backpack full of camera equipment. John was also an avid athlete. He completed twelve full marathons, a full IronMan, several triathlons, and multiple "cause" races. In his spare time, he did elaborate woodworking and landscaping and enjoyed spending quality time traveling with his wife and young daughter.John met his wife Larissa in the fall of 2010 and they had a joint love for mission work. Each of them had spent their early 20s doing multiple mission trips to South America and Egypt. They made plans to travel the world together "someday" with their church where Larissa could do Medical Missions and John could use any number of his talents and his willingness to help out wherever he was needed. They talked countless times about how seeing the world, the beauty and the poverty, made them the people they are today. They planned to take their children on mission trips as soon as they were old enough.John and his wife Larissa are active members of South Main Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.
