BRUNSWICK - Mr. John Ellis Mickel, affectionately known as Jack, departed this life on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, at the Southeast Georgia Medical Center in Brunswick.He was born on Oct. 28, 1936, to the late Roosevelt Mickel and Gertrude Frasier. He attended the public schools of Liberty County.He is survived his children, Barbara A. Doomes, John E. Mickel Jr. (Tiffany), Brenda M. Murray (Grover) and Valerie M. Bacon (Samuel); sisters, Emma L. Roberts, Lula M. Walthour, Laura M. Bacon (Lee Joseph) and Mary L. Powell (Rufus); his brother, James Frasier (Shirley); and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.Viewing will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at Dorchester Funeral Home in Midway.Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, Nov. 26, at Pleasant Grove AME Church, 1450 W. Oglethorpe Highway, Hinesville. The Rev. Abraham Frazier Sr. will be the eulogist. Interment will be in the church cemetery.Dorchester Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
