MICKELSON, John David "Jack" Of West Chester, Ohio, 93, passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at his home. Jack was born on June 28, 1923, in Oak Park, Illinois, the son of Arthur and Bessie (Vlasak) Mickelson. Jack began service in the American Merchant Marines in 1941 and was honorably discharged in 1945. He is recipient of the Atlantic War Zone Medal, Mediterranean Middle East War Zone Medal, Merchant Marine Combat Medal and Pacific War Zone Medal. He is survived by his sons, Edward A. Eul of Trevor, Wisconsin, and Tom W. (Anita) Eul of Glendale Heights, Illinois; daughters Virginia "Ginger" Shawver of West Chester, Ohio; Patricia Manges of Antioch, Illinois, Margaret (James) Corson of Barrington, Illinois, and grandchildren, Jackie Mary Eul and Jaime Marie Eul of Glendale Heights, Illinois. Jack is preceded in death by his wife Mary L. Mickelson, infant son Mark Mickelson and son-in-law Kirby Manges. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 9080 Cincinnati-Dayton Road, West Chester, Ohio.
