Joffrey "Joey" Winslow Smith III, 49, of Rockingham, N.C., formerly of Laurinburg, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014.
Joey was born on March 22, 1964 in Scotland County, a son of Joffrey W. Smith Jr. and Linda Leggett Smith. He worked as the commercial sales manager for Auto Zone Inc. He attended the Southern Grace Church, enjoyed NASCAR and drag racing, tinkering with cars and riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by his wife, Janet B. Smith; sons, Joffrey Winslow Smith IV, James "Matt" Smith; daughter, Shelbi Lynn Smith and fiancé Eric Hart all of the home; his parents, Joffrey W. Smith Jr. and Linda L. Smith of Laurinburg; grandmother, Lena Taylor Smith of Laurinburg; a brother, Kevin D. Smith of Laurinburg; sisters, Rhonda Oxendine and husband Damon of Mt. Olive, Alexas Watson and husband Chris of Pikeview; granddaughter, Lilyian Samarah Smith; and special nephew, Caleb "Bug" Beasley.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in the Zion Circle Cemetery. Services will be officiated by the Rev. Bobby Morton and Larry Butler.
The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice Haven of Rockingham, 1119 North US Highway 1, Rockingham, NC 28379.
