Joan M. LeggOkemosJoan Mary Legg, 85, of Okemos, MI, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2016 at Hospice of Lansing-Stoneleigh Residence. Joan was born on July 16, 1931, in Grosse Pointe, MI, the daughter of Patrick F. and Florence H. (Meehan) Tuohey. Joan was a 1949 graduate of Coldwater High School where she was a member of the cheerleading team. In high school she met her future husband Louis E. "Ned" Legg II. Joan continued her education at Michigan State University on a full academic scholarship where she received a Bachelor's Degree (Magna Cum Laude) in English in 1953. Joan was a past president of the MSU chapter of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Joan and Mr. Legg married in June of 1953 at the MSU Alumni Chapel. She was previously employed as a teacher at Lansing Junior High School. Joan was a past president of the Lansing Junior League. She was also active with the Urban League of Lansing, Sparrow Hospital Guild and served as a volunteer for Meals On Wheels. Joan enjoyed reading, entertaining and traveling the world with her husband. Mr. Legg preceded her in death on August 4, 2015.Joan is survived by her two sons Louis and Tom Legg. She also leaves her two grandsons Matt (Aisha) and Jon Legg and her brother Tom Donkin.A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, November 3, 2016 at St. Katherine's Episcopal Church, 4650 Meridian Rd., Williamston, MI 48895, with a luncheon to follow.Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Katherine's Episcopal Church.Arrangements are by Royal Funeral Home, Battle Creek, MI  www.royalfuneralhome.net
