Jerry T. ReidNEWARK: A Mass of Christian Burial for Jerry T. Reid, age 78, of Newark, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 66 Granville Street, Newark, with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest, as celebrant.Jerry passed away October 3, 2013 at The
Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, in Columbus. He was born on October 25, 1934 in Logan, Ohio to the late Francis J. and Glenna A. (Blazer) Reid.Jerry was a graduate of New Lexington High School class of 1952 and The Ohio State University class of 1956. Jerry was a proud Buckeye and loved all things Ohio State. He was an OSU football season ticket holder, who rarely missed a home game. He loved music and played drums for the New Lexington High School and The Ohio State University Band. He was also a patron of the Midland Theater, a member of The Works and a supporter of the Licking County Humane Society. He was a parishioner at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Jerry retired as Supervisor of Traffic from Rockwell International. He loved to travel. He and his wife enjoyed many trips with Freedom Years. Jerry was an avid golfer and a member of Moundbuilders Country club where he scored 5 holes in one. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Susan (Fredritz) Reid; a daughter, Deb Reid, a step-daughter, Julie (John) Bohn; a sister, Kathryn (Bill) Mooney; two granddaughters, Katie and Elizabeth Bohn; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Toby.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Pletcher; and his brother, Joe Reid.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Licking County Humane Society, Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio or The Works.Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. today (Friday, October 4), and prior to the service from 12 Noon to 1 p.m. at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. Please visit
