ALBION — Jerry Dean Morr, 86, lifetime Albion resident and active community leader died on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Betz Nursing Home in Auburn. He had been in failing health for the last few years. Mr. Morr was born on December 1, 1927 in Albion to the late Justin Sr. and Evelyn (Rice) Morr. He was a 1945 graduate of Albion - Jefferson High School and on February 4, 1950 in South Bend he married Marilyn Aller - Morr; she survives. He proudly served his country serving in the U.S. Army during the end of World War II and again during the Korean Conflict. Jerry was a dedicated citizen of Albion for many years he was the Chairman of the Chain O' Lakes annual festival, he also was a member of the Albion American Legion Post # 246, Albion R0tary Club, long time member Albion Fire Department and he served on the Albion Town Council and Noble County Council. He and his wife were members of Trinity United Methodist Church in Albion. He was an insurance agent for 32 years for Farm Bureau and Noble County Co-op. He was also a bondsman with AA Bail Bonding for 30 years. He is survived by his wife; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, John D. and Diana Morr of Albion, and Garry E. and Linda Morr of Fort Wayne; 1 daughter, Jerri Lynn Weitzel of Harrodsburg, Kentucky; a daughter-in-law, Jeanne L. Morr of Delaware, Ohio; and 1 sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Jerry Weimer of Albion. Also survivng are 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald B. Morr; his parents; 3 brothers, John Morr, Robert Morr and Justin (Slug) Morr Jr.; 2 sisters, Barbara Trowbridge and Betty Lock; and 1 half brother James Morr. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 30th, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church in Albion. The Rev. Bret Frymier will officiate. Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion, the Albion American Legion Post # 246 will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 29th, 2014 from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at the Brazzell Funeral Home, Albion Chapel. There will also be an additional 1 hour of visitation prior to the funeral at the church. Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church.
