This obituary is administered by:
Jeffrey Carl Lowry (age 55) was born on September 17, 1961 in Lyons, KS to Barbara Ann Fincher Lowry and Billy Ray Lowry. Jeff died on September 28, 2016 at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, OK after a long, grueling and courageous battle with cancer. Our family is forever grateful for the friendships and care Jeff and our family received at the Jane Phillips Medical Center cancer center and IV Unit, Comforting Hands Hospice, The Journey Home and through many special people at Legacy Church of Christ and Adams Blvd Church of Christ.Jeff spent most of his life in Bartlesville and surrounding areas. Over the years he worked in construction, as a truck driver, as a pawn shop proprietor, and spent most of his professional life in the insurance industry. In the early years with his family he lived in Cookeville, TN where he still has many friends who encouraged and loved him from afar during his battle with cancer.Jeff graduated from Sooner High School, Bartlesville, in 1979. Those were some of the most treasured years of his life and where he got to play football with his best friend, JW Lively. He attended Abilene Christian University, Abilene, TX, 1979-81 and played football for the Wildcats with JW also. The friendships Jeff developed in those years and beyond are what sustained him throughout his life. In particular, his band of brothers rallied around him and gave him the love and spiritual support he needed to face life's challenges and share in the joy of triumphs. These "brothers" and also "sisters" are now and forevermore part of Jeff's extended family – J.W. and Miko Lively, Wayne and Tracy Hearon, Mark Miller, Latena and Kip Ward, Coach Don Gibson (high school football coach), Terry and Shelle Lutke. In Jeff's recent years before his cancer diagnosis he attended Celebrate Recovery at Park Plaza Church of Christ in Tulsa. This experience and the relationships he made there brought him peace and healing. He was able to share his story and testimony of God's love and Jesus' saving grace even as his fight against cancer began. The love he was shown through Celebrate Recovery and another group of Christian men known as the May Club was a gift for which we are all grateful.Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Billy Ray Lowry, and his mother, Barbara Ann Allsup. He was loved and cared for by his sweetheart, Debby Jo Farve, of Tulsa; sister, Nancy Coburn (Tim Coburn) of Tulsa; brother and faithful caregiver, David Lowry (Tina Marutzky) of Edmond; brother, Tim Lowry (Rose Lowry) of Temple, NH. He is also survived by daughters Stephanie Greenland (Scott Greenland) of Claremore and Sarah Grace Hefner (Jeremy Hefner) of Owasso; grandchildren Anna Greenland, Benjamin Greenland, Jackson Greenland, Jace Hefner, Jaylee Grace Hefner and Lucy Fay Hefner; aunt Carlene Fincher Campbell of Oklahoma City; nieces and nephews Amy Allsup, Terez Lowry, Melissa Lowry Gillock (Richard and baby Iris Gillock), Casey Lowry, Claire Coburn, Jorden Lowry, Kevin Coburn, Sam Allsup and Ben Allsup; stepfather Jerry Allsup of Bartlesville; and stepbrothers Gary Allsup (Sherrie Allsup) of Corpus Christi, TX and David Allsup (Becky Allsup) of Fort Collins, CO; and numerous treasured cousins and friends.A celebration picnic to honor Jeff will be held on Sunday, October 23, at the Sooner Park picnic shelter in Bartlesville.
