Jeanne Marie (Fortier) ClerfJeanne Marie (Fortier) Clerf, passed away of natural causes on August 5, 2014 in Ellensburg, WA. She was born on September 5, 1927 to Henry and Anna (Snyder) Fortier on the family hop farm in Moxee, WA.She graduated from Moxee High School and then attended Central Washington College of Education, Ellensburg, WA. During her high school and college years Jeanne was a yell leader (cheerleader) and was known for her enthusiasm and energy. While at college she met her roommate's brother who would become her husband.Jeanne married Francis "Bud" Clerf on December 27th, 1946 in Moxee, thus beginning her career as a farm wife and mother to 6 children. Bud and Jeanne celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in 2013. Jeanne was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church and an active member of the Kittitas Country Cowbells (Cattlewomen). She served as president of the Cowbells from 1968-1969 and was currently an honorary member of the association. Jeanne was also involved with 4-H and was a leader of the Skyline 4-H club that is still in existence today.Surviving Jeanne are her husband, Bud, of the family farm, where they have resided for 67 years, James and Ethel Clerf, Rod and Adrianne Mace, Susan (Buz) Hjelm, Pat and Linda Clerf, Mike Clerf and Cheryl Jones and Walter Clerf. Also surviving Jeanne are numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Henry Fortier, Jr.I lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Jeanne's name to, Kittitas Country Cattlewomen Memorial Fund, C/O Barb Weber, 1251 Fox Road, Ellensburg, WA. 98926.A family memorial service has been planned for a later date.Arrangements by Brookside Funeral Home & Crematory, Ellensburg.
