Cardenas, Jeanne (Lobmeyer) 85, passed away on April 24, 2016, from Parkinson's Disease. Jeanne was born on March 2, 1931 in Kinsley, Kansas, to Nicholas and Johanna (Gerstberger) Lobmeyer. She was a wife, daughter, sister, aunt, an Adorer for 18 years, writer, professor, painter, photographer, quilter and feature writer for the Wichita Eagle/Beacon. She received the 1971 "Kansas Press Woman" Sweepstakes award for the Wichita Eagle/Beacon newspaper, the 1993 "Faculty Emeritus Award", and the 1995 "De Mattias Alumni Award", both from Newman University Jeanne wrote and was the voice for "Sunday Wih Sisters" radio program and created "For Women Only", a way for women to re-enter college. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael P. Cardenas; sisters, Marie Murphy, Edythe Voth; and brother, Harold Lobmeyer. Survived by her brothers, Nick Lobmeyer of Hutchinson, and James Lobmeyer of Leoti; sister, Margaret Exum of Brodhead, WI. Rosary: 10 a.m. with Memorial Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 2007 N. Arkansas. Memorials to the Church or Gentiva Hospice.
