HASKELL (nee Pietron), Jeanette Louise Died peacefully on Monday, Nov. 28, 2016 in Dayton, OH at the age of 94. Jeanette is survived by her husband, Richard S. Haskell, children David Haskell of Cleveland, OH, Diane Haskell of Dayton, OH, and Debra Haskell of Henderson, NV; her grandchildren Robin Shampton and Courtney Hudnall; and great-grandchildren Kennedy and Hamilton Hudnall. Jeanette was born on October 1, 1922 in Arvilla, ND to John and Justina (Zurr) Pietron. She graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1948. While there, Jeanette was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and was one of the first female members of that school's band. (She played the snare drum). Her studies were interrupted when she entered the
U.S. Navy Waves as a pharmacist's mate. Following graduation, Jeanette was employed as a dietician with the Stouffer Corporation when she met Richard. They married on May 17, 1950. In addition to raising their three children, Jeanette served as a PTA president, Boy Scout den mother and Girl Scout troop leader. She was a lifelong birder, gardener and accomplished baker. Following Richard's retirement, the couple started another chapter in their lives by devoting more time to their "hobby" of showing and breeding championship miniature schnauzers. Jeanette was also a popular dog show judge and served as president of the local branch of the American Kennel Club. When she learned of a genetic defect that increasingly affected miniature schnauzers, Jeanette worked with veterinarians in researching its cause. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, sister Marjorie "Mardi" Benson and brother Valoise M. "Bud" Pietron. There will be no calling hours. Services are private. Arrangements by Tobias Funeral Home, Far Hills Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations to of America, , and Humane Society of Dayton in Jeanette's name are welcome. Condolences may be made to
