White, Jay Eugene Jay Eugene White , age 74, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 14, 2016, following a Lobo basketball game. It doesn't make it any easier, but his family is thankful that he died doing something that he loved. Jay was born on June 10, 1941 in Littlefield, TX. He attended Eastern New Mexico University where he was a competitive bowler and bowling instructor, bowling is where he earned multiple 300 trophies. After graduation, he moved to Albuquerque and attended University of New Mexico where he received his teaching degree in 1973. He then moved to Tohatchi Indian Reservation where he taught and coached sports for 4 years. It was there that he became known as Mr. White, which is how he would be referred to by many for the rest of his days. He moved back to Albuquerque in 1977 and taught at McCollum Elementary School for 24 years as a 5th grade teacher and later in computer education. Jay had a passion for fishing, also anything involving the Lobos, Stephen King and Dean Koontz novels, video games, Science Fiction and his blind beloved 18 year old Shih Tzu named Mady. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Areti Kae White who shared many blessed years together; his daughter, Kelly Weber and husband-Jeremy; two grandchildren, Mackenzie (with whom he shared a birthday) and Charley Weber; a very large and enthusiastic extended family; and many, many close friends, who will all miss him dearly.
