Poutinen, Jay ElvidJay Elvid Poutinen, 71, of Stevens Point, WI, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016 at St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point, Wis. while holding his wife's hand and several family members at his side after a 13 month battle with cancer. He was born on November 24, 1945 in Menominee, MI. son of the late Arvid and Elvera (Johnson) Poutinen. Jay graduated from Menominee High School class of 1963. He received degrees at Northern Michigan and Western Michigan Universities. Jay married the former Susan Harris on January 3, 1983. Jay was a professor of Marketing at Lake State University and most recently at UW-Stevens Point until his retirement in 2007. Over the years, Jay also consulted with many companies in Michigan and Wisconsin. Jay enjoyed spending time at their cottage along the bay in Menominee and on his boat on the waters of Green Bay. Jay is survived by his loving wife of over 34 years, Susan Harris Poutinen, his daughter, Carrie (Randy) Krakora and grandchildren, Grace, Larissa, and Evan of Indiana, as well as brothers, John (Alisann) Poutinen and Jeff Poutinen. He is further survived by in-laws, Debbie (Dave) Doubek, Mark (Rainy) Harris, Pam (Scott) Dubrock, Vicki (Donald) Kitkowski, Kevin (Beth) Harris, and Tammy (Scott) Lesandrini as well as several nieces, nephews, a very special Aunt, Margie Felt, many cousins and many special friends. In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by his in-laws, Philo and Lucille Harris and several Aunts and Uncles. As per Jay's wishes, no formal services will be held, however, family and friends are invited to share in the memory and celebration of Jay's life at the home of Tammy and Scott Lesandrini, 215 W Hosmer Street, Marinette, Wis. from 2pm until 6pm on Thursday, December 29, 2016. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee.Sue would like to thank Dr. Fagbemi of Marshfield Clinic, Dr. Raina and the wonderful nurses on 5th floor and ICU at St. Michael's Hospital for their compassionate care of Jay as he made his journey from this life to eternal life.
