Meili, Jay E. Of Mequon, Wisconsin passed away peacefully at the age of 88 in the arms of his beloved wife. Loving, devoted, supportive and adored husband of Carol, dear father of Robin (Venice, CA) and Brett (Whitefish Bay). Step-father of Denise (Jim) Szymanski, Roger (Nancy) Rushman, Lisa (Paul) Peplinski, Renee (Brian) Tazalla and Leslie (Troy) Cota. Best grandpa ever of Brad (Katie) Kuehl, Ashley Cota, Erica (Ryan) Miller, Charles and Kelly Rushman, Allison and Elizabeth Peplinski, Zachary and Lindsay Tazalla and Stephanie Spicer. Great-grandpa "Papa Jay" of Cameron Cota and Nora Kuehl. Furthered survived by nieces and nephews and many friends in Wisconsin and The Villages, Florida. Preceded in death by his parents, Ernst and Louise Meili (nee Goede), daughter Paige, sister Katherine Anderton and husband Dave, sister Hildegarde Van Deusen and husband John and mother-in-law Cecilia Serio (nee Blanchard). Jay was born on January 9th, 1928 in Paterson, NJ. He was a distinguished scholar, graduating from Paterson High School and with honors from
Princeton University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, ultimately earning his PhD in Organic Chemistry. After completing his education, Jay started his career as a research chemist with Carnegie Mellon. He moved to the Milwaukee area with Freeman Chemical Co. Embracing his entrepreneurial spirit, he founded his first company, Plasticon in Oconomowoc, WI. He built it into a successful business then sold it and founded Molded Dimensions Incorporated in Port Washington, WI and with his vision created an industry leader. Jay was incredibly loyal and loved his employees, customers and industry peers. Jay sold Molded Dimensions to Mike and Linda Katz in 2001and stayed on as a technical consultant for five years. They have embraced Jay's vision for the culture of the company and have continued to build upon its' success. Jay was actively involved in many industry and civic organizations including Polyurethane Manufacturers of America and the North Shore
Rotary Club. Jay met Carol Rushman on a Valentine's Day Cruise in February in 1982 and they were married on September 28th, 1983. Sharing a passion for adventure, together they traveled the world visiting over 100 countries on dozens of cruises and trips. Together they enjoyed many activities including ballroom dancing, bridge and wonderful family vacations. Jay's love for each member of his family was boundless; He was truly the wind beneath their wings. A visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 3:00 PM until a Celebration of Life Service at 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials to North Shore Rotary Scholarship Fund appreciated.
