Jason Mark King, born on Jan. 17, 1984, passed away on Jan. 1, 2016. He was born in Tawas City and was living in Brooklyn, N.Y. at the time of his passing this new year. Jason is survived by his parents, Sandra Cheek and James King Sr.; as well as by his two brothers, James King Jr. and Christopher Renaud; his grandfather, Charles Buchau; and his beloved dog, Princess. Jason, in his short time on earth, found time to passionately enjoy and experience the beauty and wondrous variety of our world: he loved to hike, camp, fish, care for animals, in particular the family dogs and his own Dobermans, try and prepare new foods, work on and repair cars, and he enjoyed to travel. Jason was wonderful with numbers and mathematics, and at the time of his passing was working as an accountant and hoping to begin studies to become a CPA in the new year. He began his journey in Tawas, and it ended in New York, but in between he visited and/or lived in England, Spain, Russia, France, Indonesia, the Caribbean, Tennessee, Connecticut and South Dakota. Jason was looking forward to moving West again in the last days of his life as well. Jason had a kind and gentle soul and cared for others and animals more than he cared for himself, and his family and friends will forever miss his ability to bring joy into every situation, even if he often found it difficult to bring such joy into his own short life. Jason will forever be missed, and the family hopes those who knew him will be able to honor his life and to say goodbye Friday, Jan. 8 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Buresh Funeral Home in Oscoda. At 2 p.m., there will be a celebration of his life and all are asked to attend. Interment will take place immediately following the service in the Mikado Township Cemetery.
