Brauning, Janine passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016, at the University of Kansas Hospital succumbing in her battle with Leukemia. Janine was born on December 14, 1959 in Detroit, MI, to James and Sylvia "Jean" Moore. Janine is survived by her loving husband, Dennis; sons, Stephen, Kevin and his wife, Stephanie; mother, Jean, and her brother, James and his wife, Donna. Janine attended Lake Shore High School in St. Clair Shores, MI where she met her future husband, Dennis. After graduating, she attended Grace Nursing School where she received her RN diploma. Marrying Dennis in 1980, they moved to Burlington, IA where Janine went to work as an oncology nurse at the Burlington Medical Center. In 1983, she moved with her husband to Wichita and accepted a job working in Women's Health at Wesley Medical Center where she worked until she began her battle with Leukemia. Janine loved her family and friends, and liked nothing better than entertaining and playing games with her children, nieces and nephews, adopted family, and friends. All of them really looked forward to "Game Night" with popcorn and snacks, served up with spirited conversation and general revelry. Other activities that Janine enjoyed included gardening, bird watching, and travelling throughout the United States and Canada. She and Dennis made it all the way to Hawaii and Alaska multiple times with their friends, relatives, or kids in tow, on both large and small boat cruises. A celebration of Janine's life will be held from 2-4:30 on Sunday, September 11, at Botanica, 701 Amidon St. in Wichita, KS.
