Janie G. Hernandez, 58, passed away peacefully in Lubbock, Texas on August 4, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at San Jose Catholic Church. Father Martin Cordero will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery (new section). Prayer vigil will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at San Jose Catholic Church. There is no visitation. Condolences may be expressed at westfuneralhomellc.com Janie was born on February 26, 1959 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Luis and Criselda (Garcia) Ramirez. She was a lifelong resident of Carlsbad. After graduation, Janie began working at the Juvenile Probation and Parole Office where she was the Administrative Secretary and retired after 30 years of service. Janie also served as the Treasurer and Secretary of Christmas Anonymous for over 30 years. Janie enjoyed attending mass and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Janie's grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was a woman of great faith and devoted her time to weekly mass celebration and her hour of adoration at San Jose Catholic Church when her health allowed. When she was unable to attend mass, she would watch it from home on television. Everyone referred to Janie as "an Angel on Earth" and that's because she was. Janie had a heart of gold; she was a fighter and never let anything get her down. She remained positive and never complained, even during the most difficult times. Janie will continue to be an inspiration to us all. Janie was preceded in death by her father, Luis Ramirez, brother, Johnny Carrasco and the love of her life, Alfredo Hernandez. Survivors include her mother, Criselda Ramirez; daughter, Elaine Corona and husband Michael; grandchildren Brandon Michael Corona, Devin Matthew Corona and Kaylin Janie Corona. Janie also leaves behind her beloved pet, Canela. Pallbearers will be Michael Corona, Brandon Corona, Devin Corona, Cres Ortiz, Chon Armendarez, Jr. and Raymond Anaya.
