This obituary is administered by:
Jane Foster passed away at her home in Denver on October 24, 2016, at the age of 93. She was surrounded by her loving family during her final days. Jane was born on May 9, 1923 to Dr. Lawrence and Marjorie Bromfield in Denver, CO. She grew up in Park Hill attending Smiley Junior High. She graduated from Denver's East High School in 1941. She entered Fairmont Junior College in Washington, DC that fall, but with the start of World War II she returned to Denver, where she volunteered with the American Red Cross as a truck driver. After that she went to work for General Outdoor Advertising. She met her first husband, William W. Argall in 1945 and they were married on April 19, 1947 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. Jane and Bill raised three children: Judith, Woodruff and Louise. During the 1950s and 1960s Jane was active in the Junior League of Denver, primarily with that organization's children's theater. She was a founding member of the Cookie Jar Investment Club, an early investment group for women, and she was an anchor of the Capitol Hill neighborhood she called home for over 40 years. William W. Argall died October 7, 1973. Jane married John C. Foster on October 26, 1974, and they enjoyed 33 happy years together. Jane and John were recycling pioneers long before Denver and other cities adopted the practice. They were also world travelers; cruising the seas for months at a time was a particular passion. John would say, "Let's go to New Zealand,"and Jane would reply, "My bags are packed." They even flew on the Concorde SST, indulging John's love of flying and his training as a pilot. John died November 23, 2007. Jane was a long-serving volunteer at many Denver institutions, including the Denver Art Museum, the Salvation Army, La Cache for Children's Hospital and the Altar Guild of St Barnabas Episcopal Church. Jane and John had an extensive crèche collection and would display it each Christmas. Jane loved Denver and worked hard to make it a great city. She believed in social justice for everyone. She was loyal and dedicated to her family and friends. She was known for her quick wit and keen mind. As a testament to Jane and John Foster's commitment and support, both in time and gifts, St. Barnabas Church has announced that the chapel in the church's new Marshall House will be named the Foster Chapel in their memory. Jane was predeceased by husband John C. Foster, Sister Joann Bromfield Filippini. Survived by sister Barbara B.
