On Wednesday, July 29, 2020 James W. Killebrew’s family lost their hero who succumbed to the battle against COVID-19. He was a Vietnam Veteran that is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Fannie Mae Killebrew and four children; Weller (Lareka), Michael (Sharonda), Daniel, and Sarah Killebrew, his only sister Wanda Killebrew (Muriel Wilkerson), his brothers Carl White (Lori) and Tommy Pierce. He is well loved by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his grandchildren; Jasmine, Jessica, Jenesis, Justice, Manyea, Michael Jr., Mar’Shon, Marquis, Raqiyah, Taliyah, and great-grandson Dakari.
James was born March 3,1948 to the departed James G. Killebrew and late Mother Melva Louise Killebrew (Smith) and late step-mother (Marie Killebrew). They were members of Friendship Baptist Church where he was baptized at the age of twelve. He graduated from Male High School and went on to Jefferson Community and Technical College before he was drafted in the U.S. Army and transferred to Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam he completed his Electronic Engineering degree at Louisville Technical Institute. Some of the technology we enjoy today is available because of the units of transformers he installed in North Carolina for Bellsouth.
To honor James’ memory he will be buried in Lebanon, KY at the Veteran’s Cemetery on August 7, 2020 at 1:30 PM. He will be laid to rest with his beloved father, who was also a Veteran. We will always have the memory of how happy he was at the place he loved most, the beach
"Excuse me while I kiss the Sky!"
