James "Poppa" W. FentonAge: 79 • BurlingtonJames William Fenton, Sr., 79, passed away at home on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016 in the arms of his loving wife, Linda (Hoffman) Fenton. James was born on April 2, 1937 in Pennville, IN, the son of Oscar "Slim" and Pearl (McGuire) Fenton. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1956 and went on to serve nine years as a Staff Sergeant in the VT Army National Guard. He was a manager of Dowlings Distributors in Burlington and retired as a Supervisor of Window Service at the Burlington Office of the U.S. Postal Service in 1998.James married the love of his life, Linda, daughter of Clarence and Dora Hoffman of Burlington on Feb. 15, 1958. They were together for 59 years. He was an incredible family man with an amazing sense of humor and a passion for woodworking and hunting.Linda survives him along with four children: Linda of Lake Panosofkee, FL, James, Jr. and wife, Tammy of Colchester, Jerry and wife, Robin, of Burlington and Sharon and boyfriend, Dan of Essex; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; his siblings: Grace Ritcher of Colchester, Richard Fenton of Burlington and Frank Fenton of Westward; his in laws: Pam and Jeff Juczak and Bobby and David Hoffman, all of Burlington and Ernie and Joyce Hoffman of So. Burlington; "adoptive" children: T.C. Matthews and Teddy Juczak; best friends: Bernard Gravelle and Ernie Parizo and countless other friends and family members.He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Christopher Rouille of Burlington.Family and friends are invited to join us for a Celebration of Life on Sunday, Nov. 13, from 1-4 p.m. at the Colchester American Legion, Post 91, 70 Roosevelt Hgwy., Colchester.
