THODEN, James Stewart (Jim)Jim passed away peacefully on August 10, 2017 at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Marie, the loving father of Kirby (Tony Moreira) and Jay, and a devoted grandfather to Mary, JJ, Autumn, and Theodore. He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Marjorie. Jim was born on April 12, 1938 in the town of Biggar, Saskatchewan. He grew up in Saskatoon and attended the University of Saskatchewan where he met his wife to whom he was married for 55 years. After completing his PhD in 1968 at the University of Wisconsin, Jim worked as Professor and Researcher at the University of Ottawa, in the Faculty of Health Sciences (Human Kinetics), cross- appointed to the Department of Physiology in the Faculty of Medicine, pursuing his passions of sports, exercise and education. During his retirement years, he continued to foster his many hobbies which included woodworking, photography, testing his culinary expertise, and making ice cream and milkshakes for his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed. The family wishes to thank the ICU staff, Dr. Simon-Pierre Landry and Dr. Andrew Seely, at Hôpital Laurentian, Sainte- Agathe-des-Monts and the Ottawa Hospital respectively, for exceptional care.
