James "Jim" NighLANCASTER: James "Jim" Nigh, 84, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, Feb. 20, at Fairfield Medical Center. Jim was born on December 26, 1932, to Merle and Mary (Marburger) Nigh. A life-long resident of Lancaster, he graduated from LHS in 1951 and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He returned home where he first worked at North American Aviation, and then, for most of his life, as a serviceman for Coca-Cola. Known in Lancaster as "the Coke man," Jim never knew a stranger and loved sharing his stories and sense of humor with anyone he met. He enjoyed being outdoors—especially hunting and fishing—and his favorite vacations were spent at the national parks, enjoying nature's wonders and wildlife. Jim was a member of Grace United Church of Christ and was especially proud of serving on the building committee for the new church.Jim is survived by his wife, Peggy, who he married in 1969; daughter Diane Brancato of Owensboro, Kentucky; daughter Sherry (Mark) Jones of Lancaster; son Randy (Becky) Knisley of Englewood; daughter Suzanne Miller of Lancaster; and daughter Linda Moncrief (Randy French) of Richardson, Texas. He is also survived by his sister, Kay (Robert) George, and grandchildren, Joshua Taylor of Kentucky, Ethan (Caitlin) Jones of Hilliard, Kelsey Jones of Lancaster, Chris and Sam Knisley of Englewood, Sonya Shapiro, and TJ (Amber) Miller of Lancaster, three great-grandchildren, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis (Crook) Nigh, his parents, a brother, Robert Nigh and nephew, Mark Nigh, and sister, Mary Lou Totten. The family would like to thank Jim's team of doctors and nurses, especially Dr. Ralph Romaker, for the care and compassion as his health declined. A special thank you to his neighbors who were always there to lend a helping hand. Friends may call Thursday, Feb. 23, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home.
