James Lee Hess6-30-63 - 9-2-2014James Lee HessJames Lee Hess passed away on September 2, 2014. Jim was born on June 30, 1963 to Hal and Mitzi Hess in Pocatello, Idaho. Jim attended St Anthony School, Irving Jr. High and Pocatello High School where he collected many life long friends. In his early years, Jim, was active in sports and was an accomplished baseball player. He also was a talented skateboarder when the sport was in its beginning stages. Jim later made his home in Hailey, Idaho where he met and married Louanne Roufs. He was employed by the City of Ketchum, as the Waste Water Treatment Foreman for 14 years. They were blessed with a son Lee Thomas Hess, in 1988. Later the family moved to Challis and then to the Pahsimeroi Valley. Jim had a great love and respect for the outdoors, he defined the term "avid fisherman". Jim and his family could always be found in the mountains camping, fishing, bird hunting, rock hounding, and being part of Idaho, a state he loved so much. Jim had a deep knowledge and appreciation for history and nature. He had a passion for classic cars, golden retrievers, a good cup of coffee, reading and drawing, but most of all his love for his family.Jim was blessed with a sweet soul and built friendships wherever he went. His family and friends recall the numerous young men and women that Jim took under his wing as a big brother and best friend for life and beyond. Teaching and mentoring through a kind, respectful, and generous heart.He was loved by many and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife of 29 years Louanne, his son Lee, brothers Mike, Bill (Sally), sister Ann Poore (Shawn), nephews Ace, Luke, Jeremy, Tristan and nieces Whitney and Hallie who brought him great joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Tom and Dan, and a sister Anona Sue. There will be a celebration of life on September 13, 2014, at Cottonwood Campground (15 miles north of Challis on highway 93), beginning at 11:30am, lunch will be served immediately following the service. Those in attendance will be asked to celebrate Jim's life by sharing their memories.
