WATERBURY – Mr. James L. Davis Sr. of Waterbury, Conn., beloved husband of Mary F. Davis, died on January 11, 2021 at Saint Mary\'s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Nov. 16, 1925 in Nixon, N.C. to the late Rev. John Clayton Davis and Maggie Turner Davis. Mr. Davis was educated in the North Carolina school system and served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Davis leaves sisters Jessie Gibson and Thelma Lewis of Waterbury, Marion Davenport of Bridgeport and Pattie Overton of Allentown, Pa.; brothers George Davis Sr. of Waterbury and the Rev. Elwood L. Davis of Elizabeth City, N.C. In addition, he leaves sisters-in-law Mattie Davis of Elizabeth City, N.C., Mary Davis of Chesapeake; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Davis was predeceased by his treasured son, James L. Davis Jr, sister Minnie Davis; and brothers the Rev. Walter Davis, Caldwell Davis, Charlie Davis and William Davis.

A memorial will be held to celebrate his life at 7 p.m. Jan. 26th, 2021 at Refuge Church of Christ, 13-15 Hawkins St., Waterbury. The family will receive friends at 6 p.m.
