A Celebration of Life

James Baynes, 82, of Cleveland, Ohio, passed Friday, August 31, 2018. James was born to Leonard Baynes, and Patricia Baynes, July 11, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the middle child of six siblings.

James graduated from John Adams High School in 1955. He married Donna Baynes in 1974, and they lived together in Cleveland. James was a hard-working family man, he loved his wife, children, and grandchildren more than anything. Before retirement, James was a supervisor at Lincoln Electric for 25 years and did smaller side jobs to keep his family living as comfortable as possible. His favorite saying "Everybody has to eat if you're in my family." Funny, smart, caring and giving as they come, James made an impact on every persons' life he touched.

James is survived by 2 children: Jennifer Baynes, and Wesley Baynes (Dameka Baynes). He also is survived by 10 grandchildren, (Lucciano(22), Brianna(22), Robin(20), Nia(19), Jenesis(17), Jemel(16), Mathew(10), Naomi(7), Zoe(6).

"James was the love of my life. The only man to come into my world and sweep me right off my feet. I'll never forget the first time he took me out for bowling and pizza. I knew that very night he'd be the man I married. I will be missing you until we are reunited." -Love, Your Wife Donna

"Dad I am the man I am today because of all your hard work, sacrifices, and love you gave me. I hope I am half the father you were to me, to my kids. If I am, I'm doing a hell of a job. Love you Pops." -Love Your Son, Wesley

"Papa I love you so much. I will never forget you teaching me how to ride my bike, how to shoot a basketball, how to fish, and being a father figure to me throughout my entire life. You were the greatest man I knew and losing you has broken my heart in unrepairable ways." -Love, Your Granddaughter Robin

"I loved when we would get ice cream with Papa and he would read books to me and Nay Nay. We love you, Papa!" -Love, Your Granddaughter Zoe

James was called home August 31, 2018, from an undiagnosed brain injury. He was at peace when he left us and was happy the days before going home to our Lord. He will be missed and we will rejoice in his memories through his wife, siblings, children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
