James Howard HildebrandtCordova, TNJames "Jim" Howard Hildebrandt, 67, went peacefully home to be with the Lord on March 8, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Barbara
Smith Hildebrandt, whom he was married to for 46 years, after 4 years of courtship and engagement. He deeply loved the Lord, his wife, his church family and his dog, Sadie. He will be missed by many. As a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, he was active with the Nehemiahs and until his death served on the church council as Director of Operations. He was a member of Men's Cancer Support Group and looked forward every year to volunteering at the FedEx St. Jude Classic. Jim was born on March 16, 1949, in Berwyn, IL and at an early age moved to Evansville, IN with his parents, the late Howard and Laverne Hildebrandt and his sister Sandra, who also preceded him in death. He attended North High School where he was the captain of the 1967 State Championship basketball team. After attending Mercer University and Valparaiso University on basketball scholarships, he transferred to and graduated from
Indiana University in 1971. he spent his business career in packaging sales and retired from Sonoco Products. Jim and Barb enjoyed traveling with their friends, Indiana basketball, golf, entertaining and cooking for their friends on Friday nights. Friends will be received at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 5296 Park Avenue, Memphis on Monday, March 13, 2017 from 12:00pm- 1:00pm with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 1pm.
