KENDALLVILLE — James Leroy Hart, age 71, of Kendallville, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015 at his residence. Jim was born on April 16, 1944, in Kendallville. He attended Kendallville High School. Jim honorably served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Army from 1969 to 1970. After serving, he enlisted in the Army National Guard and continued to serve his country for numerous years. He married Connie Todd on Aug. 6, 1971. He worked for Custom Cabinets in Kendallville as a carpenter. Jim also worked for the Kendallville Publishing Co. After he retired, he worked at the Pflugerville Fire Department in Texas with the maintenance department. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry work, locksmith work and flying his ultra light plane to and from work. Survivors include his wife, Connie Hart of Kendallville; two daughters, Theresa (John) Allevato of Fort Wayne and Melissa Hart of Fort Wayne; two sons, Jeffrey (Beatrix-Dekker) Hart of Appleton, Wisconsin, and Joe (Lani-Williams) Hart of Indianapolis; granddaughters, Stephanie (Jason) Reuille of Fort Wayne, Kathryn Hart of Fort Wayne, Ivy Hart of Appleton, Wisconsin; grandsons, Matthew Smith of Fort Wayne and Israel Hart of Indianapolis; two great-grandsons, Tanner Christlieb of Fort Wayne and Wyatt Reuille of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Keith (Carol) Hart of Kendallville and Lynn (Colleen) Hart of Wolcottville; and a brother-in-law, Gregory (Glenda-Myers) Todd of LaGrange. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Hart, and two brothers, Richard and David Hart. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, from 3-5 p.m. at Hite Funeral Home, 403 S. Main St., Kendallville, Indiana. A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015 following the visitation at 5 p.m. at Hite Funeral Home.
