James Edward Rogers88, of Remington, passed away at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in Green Hill Manor of Fowler.Jim was the last of 6 children born on August 4, 1928 in Francesville, Indiana to the late Fred and Lydia (Leader) Rogers.On March 28, 1948 he married Doris Potts; she survives. Mr. Rogers and his wife were longtime members of Bethany Chapel Christian Church until it closed. The couple lived on the family farmstead in rural Benton County since the early 1950's where they farmed grain and livestock.Jim enjoyed farming and in the early farming days working with his neighbors. He loved his wife and children and always enjoyed good food.Surviving with his wife are three children, Lorena (Larry) Payne of Remington, Kenneth (Ruena) Rogers of Remington and Lydia (Steve) Hendress of Wolcott. Jim loved spending time with his family, especially his nine grandchildren, Leticia (Paul) Eldridge, Emily (Jeff) Cripe, Jacob (Courtney) Payne, Nathan (Valeri) Rogers, Nancy (Bryan) Adwell, Millie (Allan) Maximo, Seth (Erica) Hendress, Shea (Cortney) Hendress and Laci Hendress (fiancé, Todd Steinhauer) and his twelve great-grandchildren, Carly Eldridge, Taylor & Jada Cripe, Ali, Sadi, Averi & James Rogers; Lucia, Hannah & Sarah Maximo, Oliver Hendress and Knox Hendress and two great-great-grandchildren, Olivia and Ayden Eldridge.Preceding him in death with his parents are his siblings, Ivy (Ted) Litke, John (Ana) Rogers, Mary (Ernie) Bushman, Marie (Forrest) Miller and Emmett Rogers.Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12 p.m. (Noon) Monday, January 16, 2017 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston; Gary Milton to officiate.
