James "Jim" E. QuaintanceFREMONT: James "Jim" E. Quaintance, 82, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Valley View Healthcare Center. He was born on October 8, 1934 in Gibsonburg to Curtice and Margaret (Carl) Quaintance.Jim was a 1952 graduate of Gibsonburg High School. He was an Associate Professor at Terra State Community College for almost 30 years until he retired in 1999. He was a member of the Moose and The Knights of Columbus. Jim was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was also a member of the Blessed Sacrament Confraternity. He enjoyed playing cards and being on the golf course in his free time. Jim knew no stranger because he could make friends so easily and would always lend a helping hand to others in the community. Jim loved being a grandfather and attended any event that his grandchildren had. Jim will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. On June 19, 1954, he married Dorothy Blechinger, whom preceded him in death on January 1, 2012. Together, they had 6 children; John (Lisa) Quaintance of Elida, James A. (Janet) Quaintance of Clyde, Joseph (Connie) Quaintance of Fremont, Lorianne (Mike) Stull of Fremont, Teresa (Chris) George of Columbus and Denice (Chris) Hirt of Fremont. On January 19, 2013, Jim later married Barbara Ronski and she survives. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and brother, Carl Quaintance.He is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Robert Quaintance, Paul Quaintance and Virginia Fisher.Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont from 2:00-8:00 p.m. with a vigil beginning at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, February 20, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fremont, at 10:30 a.m., with Father Michael Zacharias officiating.
