Jacob M. Etzwiler Jr.MANSFIELD: Jacob M. Etzwiler Jr. died on September 6, 2017 at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home after a brief illness. He was born on October 1, 1928 in Mansfield to Jacob and Esther (Green) Etzwiler. He graduated from Mansfield Senior High in 1947. He served in the 164th Air National Guard for three years and the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Etzwiler was employed for 33 years with General Motors in security, retiring in 1989. He was one of the first two employees hired at the Mansfield Plant during its construction. He also worked at Westinghouse and Tappan for several years prior to General Motors.He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Schulties) Etzwiler, they were married on April 23, 1949. Also survived by one son, Eric (Rita) Etzwiler; one daughter, Kristina (Gerald) Benjamin; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Earl; and his sisters, Alta Cairns, Mary Hindman, Florence Broach, and Martha Schulte.Jacob was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Jacob had chosen compassionate cremation and no calling hours for his services. Private graveside burial will be officiated by Pastor Bob Stull at Mansfield Cemetery at a later date.
