Jack D. WardSpring GroveJack D. Ward, 83, passed away at home on March 12, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Dolores (Miller) Ward; together they shared over 60 years of marriage. Jack was born on April 28 1933 in Bakersville, NC and was the son of the late Luther J. and Mary (Holder) Ward. He worked for Reindollar Construction for over 30 years before he went on to work as a custodian for the Spring Grove School District and retired in 2000. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed doing the two with his grandson, Ryan. He was a member of Harvest Time Temple Church for many years and also a member of Union Local 1180. In addition to his wife, Dolores, Jack is survived by his son, Gary Ward and wife, Lori of Albuquerque NM; his daughter, Debra Keeney and husband, Patrick of Spring Grove; his grandchildren, Douglas, Lisa, Ryan and wife, Rachel, and Kaitlyn; and his great-grandchildren, Jazlyn, Thor, and Leighton. He is also survived by his sisters, Willa Mae Kessler and husband, Burnell, and Loreen Bollen; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Lee Ward. A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Harvest Time Temple Church, 700 Black Rock Rd. Hanover PA 17331, with the Rev. Fred Mummert officiating. Interment will follow at Jefferson Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his son, Michael. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
