Mr. Jackie "Jack" Rudolph Neal of Jefferson died on Friday, Dec. 26, 2014 at his residence. He was 84.
Mr. Neal was born on Jan. 18, 1930 in Lima, Peru to the late John Glenn and Gladys May Neal.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Neal was preceded in death by a son, Pete Neal.
Mr. Neal served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a creative and talented person. Jack enjoyed painting, fishing, being outdoors and wood carving. He worked for the N.C. Department of Corrections for many years, working at different facilities in North Carolina before retirement.
Mr. Neal is survived by his wife, Donna Jones Neal; one son, John Richard Neal of Jefferson; one daughter, Jackie Neal LaJoie of Mooresville; seven grandchildren: Mark Sherrod, Jessica Sherrod of Bloomington, Ind., John Neal, Ben Neal, Jack Neal, all of Jefferson, Christopher Neal of Wilkesboro and Kevin Neal of Jefferson; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Steve Goss. Burial followed in Jefferson Cemetery with military rites.
