On Tuesday, November 22, 2016, Mr. James "Jimmy" Scott, Jr. of 214 S. Sycamore Street, Petersburg, Va. (The Layfette House) departed this life. He was born on August 29, 1959 to James Sr. and Flossie Scott.James graduated from Matoaca High School and upon graduation he joined the United States Army. He was a dedicated father. James was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church in West Petersburg.James was known for his kindness and loved for others. He had a heart of gold for his children and all of his family.He was preceded in death by his parent; the love of his life, Vanessa Anne Shands; grandparents, Deacon John and Vera Arrington, Katie Winfield and Grandfather Scott; aunts, Joyce Brown, Linda Hinton, Dorothy Barnes and an uncle, Milton Arrington.James leaves to cherish his memory, to his wife, Tonnessa Scott; children, James Shands, Jamarye Scott, Ricky Shands (Takiyah), Crystal Shands, Shandrika McLaughlin (Raymond) and Courtney Stith; grandchildren, Briana Vanessa Starkes, Kamori Anne Shands, James Christian Anthony Shands, Samyra Stith, Jamari McLaughlin, Kamari Gilliam, Kavarion Stith and Khloe Foster; brothers, Jarvis Scott and James Williams; sisters, Michelle Scott and Sharon Scott; aunts, Esther Smith and Susie Kemp; uncles, June Arrington, Curtis Arrington, Morris Arrington, James Arrington and William Marshall Scott, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.Services for Mr. James Scott, Jr. will be held 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA.
