Ivette Rivera Dreyer peacefully passed away on December 14, 2016 in New York, NY at the age of 58. She leaves behind her son, Edgar Alexander Dreyer, and daughter, Melissa Alexandra Dreyer. Ivette was born on August 20, 1958 in Juncos, Puerto Rico to father, Heriberto Rivera and mother, Francisca Rivera. She grew up in a loving family with a brother and sisters. Upon arriving to Connecticut, Ivette completed her studies from University of Hartford, where she was heavily involved in empowerment of Latino community services and educational outreach. She dedicated her life's professional career to assisting thousands of students with the ability to attend college. Ivette married Edgar Antonio Dreyer on November 23, 1985. Shortly after graduation, they relocated to Bloomfield, CT, where Ivette accepted a position as an administrator for the Connecticut community college system. There, the couple lived and raised their two children. Ivette was a compassionate professional with a mission to always helping others and a love for travel. When diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, she remained dedicated in her work and in her will to fight her illness. She remained a brave, iron-willed woman, even throughout her final months. Ivette is survived by her children. The family would especially like to thank Sloan Kettering Hospital and the Visiting Nurses of New York, who provided tremendous care during her battle with cancer. The wake service will be held Friday, December 16th,, 4PM - 7PM for family and friends at 108 Tunxis Ave, Bloomfield, CT 06002. The funeral services will be held Saturday, December 17th 8:30AM at Crossroads Community Cathedral located at 1492 Silver Lane, East Hartford, 06118. The church service will be followed by burial at Mount Saint Benedict located at 1 Cottage Grove Road, Bloomfield, CT 06002.
