Irene Eleanor Stevens1930 - 2014Irene Eleanor (Borchardt) Stevens, 83, of Oviedo, Fla., (formerly of Kenosha, Wis) passed away on March 27, 2014 after a long illness. Irene was born on Sept. 24, 1930, in Merrill, Wis. She graduated from Colombia Hospital School of Nursing, Milwaukee, Wis., in 1951 and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Marquette University. She met Robert (Bob) Stevens, the love of her life and life-long dance partner, at a dance at the Memorial Union at the University of Wisconsin. They married in July of 1954 and lived in Milwaukee where Irene worked as an RN for the Milwaukee County Public Health Dept. In 1958, they moved to Kenosha. While living in Kenosha, Irene was active in her church, the First Congregational Church of Kenosha, loved to play tennis, camp and hike. She was also a gifted seamstress. Bob and Irene raised three children and owned and operated Bob Stevens Pharmacy. In 1991, they retired and moved to Oviedo, Fla. Irene, loving wife, sister, aunt, mother and grandmother, is survived by her adoring husband of 59 years, Robert (Bob) George Stevens. She is also survived by her sister, Joan (Borchardt) Sapp of Greenville, Wis.; her sister-in-law, Shirley (Langhoff) Borchardt of Merrill, Wis.; her son, Captain Rom A. Stevens, Medical Corps, U.S. Navy; and daughter-in-law, Dr. med. Marianne Mikat-Stevens of Indian Head Park, Ill.; son, Dr. Matthew H. Stevens and daughter-in-law, Nicola (Matthews) Stevens of St. Paul, MN; and daughter, Julie (Stevens) McLean and son-in-law Gary McLean of Geneva, Fla.; seven grandchildren, nine nieces and nephews.
