Tessier, 94, of Burlington and a long time resident of Essex Jct., VT died peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2017 at her residence at Cathedral Square in Burlington surrounded by her family. She was born on April 15, 1923 in Yamaska, P.Q., Canada, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Ann (Duhamel) Parenteau. Irene was married on May 6, 1944 in Drummondville, Quebec to Rene H. Tessier. Irene and Rene moved to Vermont shortly after their marriage and eventually moved to Essex Junction where they raised their family. Irene was predeceased by her husband Rene, on July 24, 1985, two daughters, Doris Clark of New Hampshire, Diane Girard of St. Albans, VT, great-grandson Alex Coltey, and by eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by her four children, Jeannine Coltey of Massachusetts, Nancy Brace and her husband William of Burlington, Robert Tessier and his wife Joan of Florida, Suzanne Way of South Burlington; 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday May 25, 2017 at 10:00 am in Holy Family Catholic Church in Essex Jct. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to the VNA Hospice Program.
