Irene Marie Sigala Salas 70, of Salinas passed away surrounded by loving family and friends on Monday, August 3, 2015. 

Irene was born in Salinas, CA on February 15, 1945. She graduated from North Salinas High School. 

Irene worked many years in the family business, El Nopal Restaurant. After her marriage, she enjoyed being a housewife and mother. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Church and participated in their choir and with the Sunflowers group. Irene enjoyed taking trips with family and friends. When Irene was young she enjoyed roller-coasters, dancing and attending plays. 

Irene is survived by her daughter Christina Salas, grandson Daniel Boye of Salinas and stepson Felipe "Pipe" Salas of Mexico, sister Griselda Sigala- Aguilar (David) of San Jose, brothers Steven Sigala, George (Diana) Sigala, and Andres Sigala of Salinas; numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and her beloved Sunflower family and numerous other family and friends.

Irene is preceded in death by her husband Felipe Salas, parents Panfilo and Marylou Sigala, sister Lorraine Sigala Gonzales and nephew Andres Sigala.

The family wishes to thank the Sunflowers group for the many years of dedicated friendship, love and spiritual support they have given Irene throughout the years. Their presence made a great impact on the quality of Irene's life and her family will be forever grateful.
