Irene ChapmanAdelIrene Chapman, 95, of Adel, Iowa, died Friday, June 16, 2017 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 20, at the United Methodist Church in Adel with Pastor John Augspurger officiating. Her body has been cremated with the cremains being interred in the Oakdale Cemetery at Adel.Irene was born on June 18, 1921, at Woodward, Iowa to Ferdinand and Caroline (Klipple) Bengtson. She grew up in Woodward and Adel, graduating from Adel High School. Irene had been a Dallas County Deputy Auditor for 32 years, retiring in 1987. She had been a member of the Adel United Methodist Church, enjoyed bowling, playing bridge, dancing, and being very social with people. She especially loved animals. Irene is survived by her grandson, Seth (Jennifer) Wicks of Ankeny; great grandchildren, Dallas and Lesa; and nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Ferdinand and Caroline (Klipple) Bengtson; daughter, Lesa; three brothers; and one sister.Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM on Monday at McCalley Funeral Home. Memorials given to the family will be directed to the Adel United Methodist Church or AHeinz57 Animal Rescue in DeSoto.Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCalley Funeral Home in Adel.
