Ioannis "John" BabarakosIoannis (John) Babarakos passedaway peacefully on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. John was born on February 24, 1924 on the island of Evia, Greece to Despina and Demetre Babarakos. John was raised by his mother Despina as his father passed away just 40 days after he was born. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Zaharou (Lula) Babarakos, their 4 children, Despina (& Lakis) Pavlidis, Nina (& Vasilis) Varlamos, Eleni (& John) Christofilis & Demetre (& Evangelia) Babarakos, 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. John's family was his pride and joy. Marrying at the young age of 22 on November 14, 1946, he adored his wife Lula, who was his steadfast companion throughout his life.John will be remembered by those who knew him as a dedicated husband and father who worked hard to provide for his family throughout his life. John was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Seattle. A Trisagion service will be held on Tuesday, November 1st at 7pm at Evergreen Washelli Chapel, with viewing from 5-8pm.The Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 2nd at 11am at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2100 Boyer Ave E, Seattle, WA 98112. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that any memorial gifts be given in John's memory to Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.
