Ingrid Irene Smith,71, the youngest of seven, was born on August 22, 1945. She passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 while surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Ingrid was born and raised in HaBloch, Pfalz, Germany where she met the love of her life, Frank Smith Jr. and was married to him on February 4, 1965. She stood by his side throughout his military service and devoted herself to caring about people and expressing her love through her delicious German cooking. Ingrid worked as the head cook at Günther's Edelweiss for approximately 15 years then retired to give more time to her family. She enjoyed hosting parties while offering elaborate meals for her friends and family to enjoy. She also found happiness in her daily routine as she smiled through making her house a home. Ingrid took pleasure in traveling to Europe every year to preserve her relationships in Germany as well as an occasional trip to Ruidoso where she delighted in playing the slot machines. Ingrid was preceded in death by her parents; Otto and Maria Ferdinand. She is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Frank Smith Jr., her sons; Andreas (Terri), Tony (Elizabeth), Victor (Arlene), Eric, her grandchildren; Amanda, Aaron, Toni, Bria, Deja, Izaiah, Devin, her great-grandchildren; Sarahi, Aliyana, and her sister Renate Öffler whom will always carry her memory in their hearts. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 9:00pm Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast - 4631 Hondo Pass Drive. Funeral Service will begin at 9:00am Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
