Imelda (Melba) JimenezSanta Paula, CAOur beautiful mother,wife, sister and grandmother passed away peacefully on the evening of July 12, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 19, 1939 in Santa Paula to the late Gil and Consuelo Castaneda.By following her husband in Christian faith she raised her 6 children to be God fearing, family focused Christians. Her children were her life who she adored. She was giving, loving and was our biggest cheerleader. Her grandchildren, spanning over three generations were her pride and joy. Near and far her love for them was unconditional. Her influence on her daughter/son in laws lead to a complete circle of faith that united all to become one family. She grew up with 12 siblings whom she loved. She grew up living down the street from her family owned grocery store who provided for many families in the community. It was at Santa Paula high school where she met the love of her life, Jose Reynaldo (Rey) Jimenez. She was the first woman in her family to graduate from college. In 1959 they got married and had 6 children within a 20 year span. While raising her kids, her and her husband also created their family businesses including Rey's Produce and Sunfresh USA.Amongst her many talents and skills she was a tremendous bookkeeper for 56 years. Her greatest gift was opening up her home with her wonderful cooking and hospitality that was enjoyed by so many. Imelda is survived by her husband of 58 years Rey Jimenez, her children and their spouses, Jose Reynaldo Jr. (Soly), Daniel (Letty), Isaac (Lupe), Lisa (Steve), Serena (Jerry), and Joshua. She also had 20 grandchildren, Jose Reynaldo III, Jeremy (Lorena), Matthew, Marisa, Caleb (Sachiko), Rachel, Cindy, Caleb, Carli, Daniel (Melissa), Carissa Imelda (Ben), Ashley (Hunter), Stephen, Lailah, Teah, Haylee Rae, Jerry Jr., Cole, Lexy and Nathan and 9 great grandchildren who she loved and adored. Her children and grandchildren were so special to her and she loved when they visited her. She never missed a sporting event ranging from her children to her great grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving and caring sisters and brothers, Lucy (Pat), Connie (Paul), Beatrice (Rudy), Veronica (Manuel), George (Lupe) and Manuel (Katie) and numerous nieces and nephews.A special thank you to her extended family and friends who came to support her family and surrounded her on her final days. Too many to name, but all were so loved by her. A celebration of her life will be Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 10:30 at the Santa Paula Church of Christ and graveside services to follow at Pierce Brothers Cemetery in Santa Paula. Our mother was entrusted to family owned Castaneda-Crollett Mortuary, Los Angeles, CA.
