DALTON: Ilene M. Maluda, 85, of 45 Main Street, Sugar Hill passed away on December 5, 2016 at Berkshire Medical Center. Better known as Ginger, she was born on July 5, 1931 in Adams, MA, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Sophie Filip Zajchowski. A longtime Pittsfield resident on Kellie Drive, she had resided in Dalton for the past six years. She was educated in Adams schools and was a 1949 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She married her husband, the late Frank J. Maluda Sr. on November 27, 1954 at Holy Family Church in Pittsfield. He died on March 23, 1976.A homemaker, she had worked at one time at General Electric and at the former A & P Supermarket on Elm Street. She retired in August 1991. She was a communicant of St. Agnes Church and was a former communicant of St. Charles Church and the former Holy Family Church while living in Pittsfield. She enjoyed golfing and playing cards. An avid sports fan, in her younger years Ginger and her twin sister Pinky, played semi-pro basketball with the women's team, Pittsfield Pro-Drug, and played at Boston Garden and toured throughout the country.She leaves her son; Frank J. Maluda Jr. and his wife Mary Sue of Coral Springs, FL. Two daughters; Janice I. Uliasz and her husband Ron of Dalton and Susan M. Raimer of Pittsfield. She also leaves her three grandchildren; Alex Raimer, Nicole Esposito and Cathleen Maluda and her great granddaughter; Eva Esposito.She was predeceased by a son; the late Thomas Maluda who passed away on December 3, 1958. She was also predeceased by a brother; Joseph Zajchowski and by her twin sister; Irene Wojtkowski.The family of Mrs. Maluda would like to thank the staff at Sugar Hill for the compassionate care given to their mother.
FUNERAL NOTICE
: Funeral services for Ilene M. Maluda of Dalton who passed away on December 5, 2016 will be held Saturday at 8:15 AM from the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM at St. Agnes Church in Dalton celebrated by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home in Dalton.Memorial donations in memory of Mrs. Maluda may be made to the or St. Agnes Parish in care of the funeral home, 890 Main St. Dalton, MA 01226.
