Parsons, 81, of The Pines in South Burlington died on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at his home, with his wife by his side.He was born on January 30, 1936 in East Calais, VT, the son of Jonas and Doris (Dalton) Parsons. He graduated from Montpelier High School's class of 1956.On February 28, 1956, Howard enlisted in the United State Navy and served in the U.S. Naval Air Command until his honorable discharge on January 27, 1960.On September 5, 1959, he married Beverly Wheeler in Montpelier, VT.He worked for most of his career for IBM in Essex Junction until his retirement in 1991.Howard was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Beverly Parsons; his daughters, Katrina Murray and her fiancé, Todd Haskins of Naples, FL, Joyce Murray and her husband Russell of Naples, FL, and Kristina Jerome and her husband Daniel of West Roxbury, MA; sister, Shirley Davis of Newport, ME; five grandchildren, Amanda Murray and her partner, Matt Johnston, Jordan Parsons and Travis Parsons of Naples, VT, William Jerome and Emily Jerome of West Roxbury, MA, and a great grandson, Tyler Johnston of Maine; and several nieces and nephews; his "son" David Gilbert, who was also by his side at his passing.He was predeceased by two grandchildren, Adam Murray and Anna Jerome.There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on March 25, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 400 Swift Street, South Burlington, VT.
