Hocinto "Clem" Hidalgo Sr.September 11, 1932 - December 10, 2014Hocinto "Clem" Hidalgo, Sr., age 82, of Fort Hall passed away on December 10, 2014 at the Idaho State Veterans Home, in Pocatello. He was born on September 11, 1932 in Sommerville, Texas to Pedro Hidalgo and Trinidad V. Hidalgo. When he was a little boy, he made his own toys. He spent many days as a young boy playing and swimming on the Blackfoot River. He loved to swim and later taught swimming in the Navy. Clem spent his entire life as a resident of the Fort Hall Indian Reservation. He had a deep love of animals and took many strays in who he said needed help. Clem had a very unique sense of humor and always had a story to tell which made him laugh as much as others around him. He sometime said things to just see how people would react. Clem had a deep faith in God and a very strong respect for the Native American ways and traditions, which he instilled in his children and grandchildren. He always treated people fair but direct and made himself available when someone needed his help.Clem attended school at St. Margaret's in Blackfoot and attended Blackfoot High School until the 10th grade.Clem entered the US Navy at San Diego, California in 1951 and served until 1954 when he was honorably discharged. He served of service on the naval base in Norfolk, VA and was aboard the USS Iowa Battleship as a Seaman. After his Navy service he worked in agriculture, construction, he was a business owner of his own Tavern known as "Clem's Place", and operated heavy equipment, from which he retired from.Among his hobbies, Clem loved antiques and yard sales. He was always searching the Thrifty Nickle for good deals. He also loved gardening, camping, fishing, building things, like bird houses, and metal detecting. He loved the Denver Broncos and Boise State Broncos.Clem's parents, Pedro and Trinidad Vasquez Hidalgo and a sister, Natalie Sittre, preceded him in death. He married Yvonne Boise, who also preceded him in death. He later married Ruth "Rosy" A. Seaman. His family has always been important to him. His many great grandchildren were the light of his life. Clem is survived by two sisters, Irene (Fernando) Gonzalez and Gracia Sittre; children William "Billy" Hidalgo, Ida Broncho, H.C. Clem (Erin) Hidalgo, Jr, Stacy Timbana, Garland Wade Hidalgo, Shawnie (Lessanyole) Sammaripa Honena, Lewis Bear and Elizabeth Bear; grandchildren, Mavis "Chopper" Hidalgo, Phillip "Pete" Larkin, Amber Larkin, Tommy Larkin, Alarice Broncho, Yvonne "Bbon" Broncho, Tyson Hidalgo, Catlin Palmer and Kesley Hidalgo, Leon Timbana, Homer Preacher, Kendra Pongah, Rowdy Redfox, Charles Pooengerah and numerous cousins, nephew and nieces. Viewing will be held at 1088 Teepee St in Fort Hall on Saturday. December 13th. A Rosary Services will be held on Sunday, December 14th at 5:00 P.M. at the Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church on C Ave and West Sheepskin Road in Fort Hall. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Church. Arrangements are under the care of Downard Funeral Home, 241 N. Garfield Ave., Pocatello.
