FORT WAYNE — Rev. Herman H. Heine, 95, died Monday, July 7, 2014, at Lutheran Life Village in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on December 1, 1918 in Auburn, Indiana, to the late Herbert and Margaret (Schlup) Heine. He married Virginia Yergens on June 27, 1943 in Fort Wayne and she preceded him in death on January 3, 2002. Surviving are a son Mark (Sharlene) Heine of Rome City, Indiana; a daughter Holly (Bruce) Hamman of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren Jennifer (Michael) Neff, Mark Heine II, Matthew (Roxanna) Heine and Laura Heine; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister Lila (John) Miller of Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Zirzow and Margaret McKechnie, and one brother, Ralph Heine. Herm was a Lutheran minister who presided over many churches including Zion Lutheran in Fort Wayne, St. John Lutheran in Kendallville, and retired in 1981 from Bethany Lutheran in Leesburg, Florida. He was a member of the Kendallville Kiwanis and was very involved in many community activities. Services will be held on Friday, July 18, at 2 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel at Lutheran Life Village, 6701 South Anthony Blvd., Fort Wayne. Calling will be held on Thursday, July 17, from 6-8 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel at Lutheran Life Village and also on Friday from 12:30 p.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are to Lutheran Life Village, 6701 S. Anthony Blvd. Fort Wayne, IN 46816.
