STROMME, Helen1937 – 2017Helen Stromme was born on September 29, 1937 to Cornelius and Kathrina Unruh. She passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on July 6, 2017 at the age of 79. Helen was born and grew up on the family farm near Hague. On August 4, 1962, Helen married the love of her life, Obeart (Bert) Stromme, and together they had three children: Brian (Francine) Stromme, Gayle (Brent) Barlow, and an infant daughter who passed away at birth, Jennifer Stromme; and four grandchildren: Allyssa (Travis) Anton, Jennifer Stromme, Britain Barlow, and Eric Stromme. Helen met Bert when they both worked at the Delta Bessborough. Helen then went on to work at the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park & Zoo for the remainder of her career. Helen enjoyed spending time fishing, gardening, cooking, and was happiest when spending time with loved ones. Helen is survived by her children Brian and Gayle, their spouses, and grandchildren; sister Kathy (the late Elmer) Olfert; five stepsisters: Margaret (Robert) Koopman, Annette (Bill) Wall, Sarah (Jean Marc) LeBlanc, Hannah (Lyle) Ewanishin, Bertha Unruh; and two stepbrothers; Henry (Doris) and Dave (Martha). Helen was predeceased by her husband Bert; an infant daughter, Jennifer; parents, Cornelius and Kathrina; her stepmother Aganetha; three brothers, Peter (Grace), Cornelius (Betty) and John (Ann); and two stepbrothers, Frank and Jake (Margaret). The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the passionate and dedicated staff in units 6200 and 6300 in Saskatoon City Hospital. The Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th St, first right past Briargate Rd).
